    This auction is for a Scarce Tall Antique American Pewter Whale Oil Lamp, Acorn Shaped Font, Dish Base, Marked G. Norris, New York, c. 1848 -1850. This very attractive tall pewter whale oil lamp has an acorn shaped font with a wide dish base with a double tube camphene burner. I usually sell these burners for around to alone. The pewter lamp is a scarce marked example by a hard to find maker. The lamp has an impressed mark, "G. NORRIS", on the underside of the base. This is the mark of George Norris who worked out of New York from only 1848 to 1850! I offer this wonderful American pewter whale oil lamp with no reserve and a Buy It Now. DIMENSIONS: The pewter lamp is 10 13/16" H. (top of burner) 9 7/16" H. (top of font) x 2 11/16" Dia. at the font and 5 1/16" Dia. at the base. CONDITION: The condition is very good with some wear and pitting to the rim of the base. There is also some minor denting to the font and wear to the surface.
