This is a great estate find! Huge lot of awards, certificates, diplomas from Army Paratrooper veteran Frank A. Ruffolo of Chicago Illinois. He was a survivor of the crash of Flying Tiger Flight 923, in 1962 when Army aircraft was forced to ditch 500 miles off the west coast of Ireland. 78 were on board, 28 died, and 48 survived, including him (if you google it, you can read all about it). Included is a printout I found on ancestry about the crash. You also get Frank's Honorable Discharge certificate, a certificate of service fro the 23rd Engineer Battalion, from 1963-1965, a certification from the United States Amry School, Europe for the Weapons Assembly Department in 1964, a Honorary Citizen awayd from Boys Town, a United States Army Infantry School award for completion of the Airborne Course in 1967. You also get a couple photos... one is a bunch of paratroopers in the sky with their parachutes engaged. And the other photo was included in this lot, of a bunch of guys. I received all these great items at an estate sale and they were all bunched together so I'm assuming that the man in the picture is Frank A. Ruffolo himself. This photo is unframed. The certificates and awards are all framed behind glass, but their frames have seen better days. Some of them will need repair or reframed. As well as a better cleaning than I gave them. They were in storage for awhile. All of the items reference Frank Ruffolo EXCEPT for the certificate with Richard Nixon's name on the bottom. That is honoring the memory of Walter V. Snirus. I'm not sure if he is relation to the Ruffolos, but because it bears Nixon's name, I know it's from the 70's. Please inspect the photos, as they are part of the description.(You will received a tracking number once your item has been shipped.
