Description
These two lovely and rare pieces were purchased by my grandfather for my grandmother in the late 1940s in Paris. The lovely design depicts 2 butterflies and one bird amongst gold leaves and 5 Azaleas. The compact case is signed “Boucheron of Paris” #875012. The compact's dimensions are approx. 2.94" inches (74.61 mm) x 2.2245" inches (57.03 mm) x .5825" inches (14.9mm). The box is hallmarked on the sides with symbol for sterling silver.(5) Natural round transparent pinkish-red rubies.Measure approx. 2.50mm diameters. Weight: approx .35 carats total. The rubies are bezel set in the center of 5 engraved flowers on the box. The box has two spring loaded door compartments inside, one for the makeup powder and one for a mirror, beneath the cutout butterfly ruby flower design. The case is a striped ribbed design, with a spring loaded gold vermeil snap clasp on one side. Weight in grams approx. 198.38.
The matching lipstick case is also Sterling Silver with 18K Gold inlay and 5 natural round pinkish-red rubies. There is also a bird and a butterfly surrounded by leaves and Azaleas. The twisting mechanism is in working condition and can house a modern lipstick.
Finding both pieces in the set is rare and their condition is excellent. I am happy to answer any questions you have about the set. (Serious inquiries only please.)
